How To Teach Loose Lead Walking

Loose lead walking is often the hardest thing for owners to overcome. Whether your dog is distracted by the smells all around them or they’re desperate to greet every person or dog, it can be hard to keep them close. When your dog is in charge of the walk it becomes exceedingly hard to feel in control and walks become something you try avoid.

The key to loose lead walking is to have your dog keep focus on you. They must look to you for instruction and you must become more interesting to them than the smells all around. We always recommend bringing treats with you on every walk (initially) to make sure you always have your dog’s undivided attention.

If loose lead walking is something that you’re struggling with, feel free to get in touch to organise a consultation.
